When a plane crash took the life of Aaliyah back in 2001, Drake was just a young actor getting his start on the Canadian teen soap Degrassi: The Next Generation. As a result, the eventual rap star never got the chance to work with the ’90s R&B great — whose face he has tattooed on his back — but in a recent interview with Tim Westwood, Drizzy sparked rumors of a posthumous collaboration.
“I have some great Aaliyah news coming soon,” the Canadian MC said, according to Rap-Up.com. “Some special things.”
Asked to elaborate, the Take Care creator declined to say more, though he promised “great things for music, period.”
